Over 1.7 million tulips bloom across terraced slopes at the base of the Zabarwan range, snow still clinging to the peaks behind them while the garden below explodes into red, yellow, and pink. This is the Indira Gandhi Memorial Tulip Garden, Asia’s largest, and it’s only open for a few short weeks each spring. Miss this window, and Kashmir simply isn’t the same place.

Spring is Kashmir’s most premium, most demanded season, which means houseboat slots fill early, Gulmarg’s Gondola queues stretch for hours without pre-booking, and Pahalgam’s valley routes require local vehicles that aren’t always easy to arrange on the spot.

Samisha Holidays runs this Kashmir Tulip festival tour package from Pune as a fully escorted 8-day journey. Gondola passes secured in advance, houseboat stays locked in before peak season hits, local Pahalgam transport built into the plan from day one. You arrive to blooming tulips and snow-capped views. We’ve already handled everything standing between you and that moment.

Tour Highlights — Kashmir Tulip Festival 7 Days from Pune
Itinerary (Day Wise)

Land in Srinagar, and within the hour you're stepping onto a houseboat floating on Dal Lake, carved walnut wood interiors and lake views replacing any hotel lobby you've experienced before. As evening settles, board a Shikara for a slow ride across the water, floating gardens and distant mosque silhouettes drifting past while the Zabarwan hills catch the last light. Dinner back on the houseboat closes out a gentle first day.

Early morning is the right time for the tulip garden, light still soft, crowds still thin. Over 1.7 million tulips spread across terraced slopes, snow-capped peaks framing the entire scene like a postcard that somehow isn't exaggerated. Afterward, visit Nishat Bagh and Shalimar Bagh, two Mughal-era terraced gardens built centuries ago with fountains, chinar trees, and the same lake views that made Mughal emperors choose Kashmir as their summer retreat.

The drive to Gulmarg climbs through pine forest, the "Meadow of Flowers" living up to its name as wide alpine grassland opens up framed by the Pir Panjal range. Check into your hotel and spend the evening adjusting to the altitude, with Gulmarg's golf course, one of the highest in the world, visible just beyond the property.

The Gondola ride, included in Phase 1, lifts you from Gulmarg's meadow straight up toward Kongdoori, the Pir Panjal range unfolding in every direction as you climb. Depending on the season, snow patches linger well into the ride even as Kashmir's lower valleys turn fully green. Spend the rest of the day exploring Gulmarg's market lanes and viewpoints at a relaxed pace, no rush since the queue-heavy part of the day is already behind you.

The drive to Pahalgam passes through Pampore's saffron fields, purple blooms carpeting the ground if timing lines up with the short flowering season. A stop at the Avantipura ruins reveals 9th-century Hindu temple remains, weathered stone columns still standing against a backdrop of the Jhelum valley. Arrive in Pahalgam by evening, the "Valley of Shepherds" living up to its gentle, pastoral name.

Local vehicles are mandatory for this route, and ours are arranged in advance so the day moves without delay. Aru Valley unfolds in wide green meadows backed by snow-streaked peaks, a favorite for Bollywood film shoots and for good reason. Betaab Valley, named after the film shot there, sits tucked between forested slopes with a river cutting straight through the middle. Chandanwari, the starting point of the Amarnath Yatra, often holds snow well into the season, giving you a genuine glacier-adjacent experience without any trekking required.

A final Kashmiri breakfast before your transfer to Srinagar Airport for departure. Eight days, one tulip garden in full bloom, two valleys, and snow-capped peaks that don't photograph the same anywhere else in India.
