A rock fortress rises 200 meters straight out of the jungle floor at Sigiriya, ancient frescoes still clinging to its sheltered rock face after fifteen centuries. A few days later, you’re walking Galle Fort’s Dutch-era ramparts as the Indian Ocean crashes against centuries-old sea walls. Sri Lanka packs an entire continent’s worth of contrast into an island you can circle in under a week — ancient kingdoms, cave temples, hill-country culture, and coastline, all within a few hours’ drive of each other.
November to April is when Ceylon shows its best side, dry weather across the western and southern stretches making every fort climb and beach evening that much easier.
Samisha Holidays runs this Sri Lanka tour package from India as a fully managed 5N/6D group circuit, private AC vehicle throughout, so the only real decision left is which temple bell to ring first.

Itinerary (Day Wise)
Land in Colombo and transfer to Negombo, a relaxed coastal town often used as a gentle entry point into Sri Lanka. Wide beaches and a working fishing harbor give a first taste of island life before the historical circuit begins tomorrow. Settle into your hotel and ease into Ceylon's slower pace.
The drive to Sigiriya cuts through central Sri Lanka's lush, green interior. Sigiriya Rock, a fifth-century fortress built atop a sheer 200-meter rock outcrop, rewards the climb with ancient frescoes, the famous Mirror Wall, and views stretching across miles of unbroken jungle canopy. Continue to the Dambulla Cave Temples, where five caves house over 150 Buddha statues and centuries-old painted ceilings, carved directly into the rock face.
Travel toward Kandy, Sri Lanka's hill-country capital and home to the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic, one of the most sacred Buddhist sites in the world. The temple's evening ritual draws devotees from across the island, drums and chanting filling the inner sanctum as offerings are made. Spend the evening exploring Kandy Lake and the surrounding old town.
Leave the hill country behind and head toward Sri Lanka's southern coast. Galle Fort, built by the Portuguese and later fortified by the Dutch, sits as one of the best-preserved colonial forts in Asia, its ramparts overlooking the Indian Ocean on one side and a maze of boutique-lined streets on the other.
A full day inside Galle's UNESCO-listed old town. Walk the fort walls at sunset, browse antique shops and cafes tucked into colonial-era buildings, and visit the lighthouse standing watch over the harbor. The afternoon allows time for the beach or simply soaking in Galle's unhurried, salt-air atmosphere.
Transfer back toward Colombo for your departure flight. Six days, four distinct regions, and a complete sweep through Sri Lanka's ancient rock fortresses, sacred temples, and colonial coastline.
